Less-Than-Truckload Services

Less than truckload, also known as LTL shipping, involves the transportation
of goods and commodities not requiring a full truckload of shipments.

LTL

LTL carriers specialize in optimizing the spaciousness of their loads by moving more goods for multiple shippers. The less than truckload shipping process by River Logistics allows for ample flexibility, cost effectiveness, and a variety of other benefits. With so many different LTL carriers to choose from, it can be difficult to choose one, and our nationwide network of contracted LTL carriers can simplify the shipping process.

LTL Freight

LTL freight involves special services such as liftgate pickup or delivery and white glove services. Other LTL freight services include, but are not limited to:

  • Enclosed dry vans

  • Box trucks

  • Enclosed refrigerated trailers

  • Enclosed logistics trailers

  • Many types of flatbeds

In LTL freight, liftgate is an elevated, mechanical platform at the back of a truck trailer. It is intended to lower the freight from the height of the trailer, which can sometimes be six feet off the ground. Customers ask for a liftgate on delivery because they do not have a forklift to get the heavy freight off the trailer.

The white glove service is a term used in the freight industry that refers to unloading and unpacking freight shipped domestically. For example, customers have asked us to uncrate and move a massage chair into a specific room in their house. Another customer has asked us to unpack and move a luxurious couch into their house.

You usually have the opportunity to expedite your LTL shipment for an additional fee if it is urgent, but River Logistics has a logistics and management program that aims to provide the fastest, most efficient, and low cost solution. LTL shipments and truckload services are ideal to send smaller shipments that do not fill a full trailer.
